July 23)Carolina Panthers vs. San Francisco Seahawks on NBC Sports (Sunday Night Football)Carroll: The Panthers’ defense has been a disaster.
They’re the only team that has lost four consecutive games.
That’s what you call a bad defense.
Carroll: They are, too.
They have one of the best offenses in the league and their defense is not good.
They’ve been so bad against the run that it’s almost hard to believe.
We’ve talked about the Panthers’ struggles and their inability to run the ball, but their inability in the pass game is something else.
Carroll on Panthers: There’s no question they’re a bad defensive team.
Carroll says it’s up to the defense to correct it.
Carroll believes the defense has improved significantly since the 2015 season, when it was the NFL’s worst and allowed the most yards per game to opposing quarterbacks.
But, he says, it needs to be a top-five defense again.
Carroll said the Panthers need to stop allowing the ball to bounce in their end zone.
He said he doesn’t think that’s going to happen.
Carroll is very critical of the defensive line.
Carroll called the line’s lack of production and talent a “disaster.”
The Panthers are averaging 3.4 sacks and 2.7 sacks for the season, which is a huge improvement over their first two seasons.
He also said he was “not optimistic” that the defense will get better.
The Panthers have struggled with injuries, and the offensive line hasn’t been great, especially at left tackle.
Carroll was asked if it would be easier for the offensive linemen to play on the other side of the ball with better competition.
Carroll doesn’t believe that is the case.
He believes the offensive lines are getting better, and they’re more consistent, which will allow the line to have better success.
Carroll also said the line is better because the team has improved on a lot of areas.
Carroll thinks the line has done well in the last three seasons.
And he believes it will continue to do so in 2018.
Carroll did not know how long he was going to be with the team, but he said it was probably five to 10 years.
